Most Enjoyable Part of the Job

It's always nice to hear what people think of working with you. Even if my site photos don't always show me smiling!!!

But it's particularly good when the feedback comes from people you work alongside regularly. Yesterday I had some really lovely feedback from Craig, Operations Manager at Elivate Ltd., about the projects we've worked on together.

He talked about the level of proactivity I bring to projects and how I consistently keep things moving and work towards getting them over the line.

Mark Fowles, who owns Elivate, echoed that feedback too.

That meant a lot to me. Because one of the things I try hard to bring to every project is a solutions-driven approach.

Building projects rarely go completely to plan. There will always be questions, changes, challenges and things that need resolving.

I don't think the answer is to simply identify the problem. I want to be part of finding the solution.

Looking back at some of the feedback I've received from clients over the last year, there seems to be a similar theme running through it.

"Extremely helpful."
"Made the process as simple and transparent as possible."
"Conscientious and prompt."
"Highly competent and trustworthy."
"Clear communication."
"Fantastic."
"Always excellent."

Those aren't words I've chosen to describe myself. They're things other people have taken the time to say about working with me.

Elevate brought me on board and the process was simple and painless (as painless as any building project can be)

And that's probably why they mean so much. For me, good architecture isn't just about producing a good design. It's about communication, being proactive, solving problems and helping a project move forward.

Whether I'm working with a homeowner, a builder or another professional, I want people to know that if something needs sorting, I'll get involved and help find a way through it.

That's the part of the job I enjoy.

And it's always reassuring to hear that it's noticed.
